War

In 1983 there was that Grenada (total population 100,000) invasion by 10,000 US troop, to "rescue" students that didn't want or need to be rescued.
Guess what?
The invader won and, as they happened to be there anyway, changed the local government.

In 1986 Ferdinand Marcos, 20 year elected president of the Philippines, was kidnapped and taken to Hawaii by US Marines led by Gen. Ted Allen, at 9:05 in the evening of February 25, aboard four helicopters.
Story is that Marcos was offered a ride to his summer residence, in the Philippines.
When the ride took longer than expected, Marcos was told that his new residence was in Hawaii.
Marcos died in 1989, in a hospital in Hawaii, still being guarded by U.S. Marshals.

Also in 1986 the US bombed Lybia with 45 aircraft, 300 bombs and 48 misiles, hoping to drop at least one bomb on Gaddafi's tent.
They missed Gaddafi but killed his one-year old daughter, along with others.
Then the US promised to stop and be friends again if Gaddafi coughed up 1.5 billion dollars.
He did and they did and they are.

1990 Bush ordered U.S. Troops to invade another sovereign country, Panama, to kidnap President Noriega and "bring him to trial" in Florida.
Not only was president Noriega kidnapped from a sovereign country but there, from the Vatican embassy, where he'd taken refuge.
(An embassy is also generally considered sovereign territory by law-abiding countries.)
Yes, the Vatican Embassy did not eject Noriega, (a point for the Vaticant)
he "surrendered" (a point for Noriega) to the invaders, after a week of 24 hour, deafening, painful noise the US Marines inflicted on the entire neighbourhood.

2004 Haiti's first democratically elected president Aristide was kidnapped by US troops and taken to the Central African Republic.
